Kingsthorpe Jets Falcons booked their place in the next round of the Youth Trophy with a cup victory over friends Mawsley Youth Football Club Raptors in the West Section second round.

The Falcons made a fast start and built a strong first-half lead. A fantastic last-ditch tackle from David on the half-hour mark prevented an almost certain goal and summed up the lads’ hunger to protect their advantage.

Mawsley kept battling after their goalkeeper took a knock while bravely challenging for a loose ball. The Falcons maintained their attacking intent after the break, with Idris and Peniel continuing to cause problems. Sustained pressure limited Mawsley’s chances, and the Falcons added to their lead. A correctly judged offside decision denied what could have been another goal.

Idris scored four times, with goals in the second, sixteenth, fortieth and fifty-fifth minutes. Peniel also had a superb afternoon, scoring in the eighth, twenty-fourth and thirty-fifth minutes.

Peniel was named Player of the Match for his hat-trick, two assists and positive running throughout the game. David earned special mention for his crucial defensive tackle, while Olumide marked his official Falcon debut with an excellent performance, including two assists, positive runs through the Mawsley defence and a strong spell at centre midfield.

Coaches Drew & Ruth said he was very proud of the team. The Falcons’ fast start set the tone, and the lads were relentless in attack, confident in their play and willing to win their battles.

The Falcons now look forward to the next round of the Youth Trophy. Their next fixture is at home against Billing Venoms in League D on Saturday, 10 October.

A big thank you to the Falcons’ sponsors, JFC and Jervis & Partners, for their support and for helping the team make lasting memories.

Kingsthorpe Jets Tigers earned a strong league victory over Drayton Grange U9 at Kingsthorpe Rec on Saturday, 26 September.

Kingsthorpe Jets Men’s side fell to a 3-1 league defeat away to Brixworth on Saturday, 26 September, in a challenging match with nine regular players unavailable.

The Jets started slowly and conceded an early goal in the opening 15 minutes. The team responded well, settling into the game, putting passes together and taking control of the centre of the park. Despite enjoying more possession, they couldn’t turn it into a goal before half-time and conceded again from a corner just before the break.

Jets came out strongly in the second half, but Brixworth scored on the counterattack to extend their lead. The team kept working until the end and won a penalty in the final 10 minutes, with Nath converting in the 80th minute to make it 3-1.

Kingsthorpe Jets Vipers 4–0 Kingsthorpe Jets Vulcans

NDYAL U13 League D | Sunday 27 September 2026 | The Rec, Kingsthorpe

Kingsthorpe Jets Vipers came away with a 4–0 victory over fellow Kingsthorpe Jets side Vulcans in a competitive U13 derby at The Rec.

The scoreline was ultimately decided by Vipers’ ability to convert their opportunities, although Vulcans grew into the game and produced a number of positive moments of their own, particularly after the interval.

Vipers started the brighter of the two sides and applied pressure during the opening stages. They moved the ball well at times and created several opportunities from open play and set pieces.

Vulcans initially looked cautious and nervous, but their goalkeeper made a number of good blocks and interceptions to keep the score level during the early pressure. Those saves appeared to settle the team, and the Vulcans defence gradually became more confident.

Vulcans worked hard to close Vipers down and competed for loose balls across the pitch. Their willingness to chase and defend collectively made it increasingly difficult for Vipers to find clear opportunities.

Vipers eventually broke the deadlock when a throw-in caused uncertainty inside the Vulcans penalty area and they reacted quickest to finish.

The goal did not lead to Vulcans dropping their effort. They continued to defend in numbers and worked hard to limit Vipers’ opportunities, although Vipers continued to have periods of possession and pressure.

The second goal came from a corner, with Vipers converting a delivery into the penalty area to establish a two-goal advantage before half-time.

The second half developed into a more competitive contest.

Vipers continued to threaten when they moved the ball quickly and made use of the width of the pitch, while Vulcans looked increasingly comfortable in possession and began to find opportunities to attack.

Vulcans created several promising moments through balls played into space behind the Vipers defence. Two or three well-weighted passes put Vipers under pressure and required a good reaction save from the Vipers goalkeeper to preserve the clean sheet.

At the other end, Vipers continued to create chances and eventually extended their lead with an excellent finish over the goalkeeper.

Vulcans continued to compete despite the increasing deficit, with players working hard to close down their opponents and prevent further opportunities.

Vipers added a fourth goal later in the half when a loose ball in the penalty area was quickly followed up and finished after taking a deflection.

The final stages saw both sides continue to work hard, with Vipers managing the game and Vulcans continuing to look for an opportunity to respond.

The final score was Vipers 4–0 Vulcans, giving Vipers the derby victory and a clean sheet.

For Vipers, the match demonstrated their ability to create opportunities, make use of set pieces and convert pressure into goals. They will also recognise the need to improve their decision-making and maintain concentration when opponents begin to apply pressure.

For Vulcans, there were encouraging signs in the way the team responded to a difficult opening. The goalkeeper’s early interventions helped settle the defence, while the collective work rate and improved confidence allowed them to grow into the game. Their second-half attacking play, particularly the use of through balls, provided some genuine opportunities to test the Vipers defence.

It was ultimately a deserved victory for Vipers on the balance of chances and goals, but the performance from Vulcans showed plenty of determination and improvement as the match progressed.

The derby provided both Kingsthorpe Jets teams with plenty to take forward as their U13 League D campaigns continue.

Kingsthorpe Jets U15 Sabres continued their impressive start to the season with a superb 3-1 league victory over Roade FC at Thomas Becket on Sunday, 20 September.

Roade handed Sabres a heavy defeat when the teams met last year, but now playing a division higher and only three games into the new campaign, Sabres showed how far they have come. The victory makes it three wins from three and moves the team to the top of the league.

The home side dominated the opening stages and were rewarded after 20 minutes when Taylor Spence broke the deadlock with a great strike from the edge of the box.

Sabres finished the first half strongly and doubled their lead just before the break. George Edwards made a driving run into the penalty area and was brought down, earning Sabres a penalty. Maxwell Fletcher stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Roade responded early in the second half, pulling a goal back from one of their few opportunities inside the Sabres penalty area.

However, Sabres reacted immediately. Just a couple of minutes later, Szymon Pomietlo restored the two-goal advantage with a wonderful strike from the left-hand side.

The team pushed hard for a fourth and came close on several occasions, only to be denied by a number of excellent saves from the Roade goalkeeper.

With several key players unavailable through injury, this was an outstanding demonstration of the squad’s strength and depth. Every player stepped up, worked tirelessly for one another and contributed to a brilliant team performance.

The goals were scored by Taylor Spence on 20 minutes, Maxwell Fletcher from the penalty spot on 34 minutes and Szymon Pomietlo on 44 minutes.

Nik Kouassi was named Player of the Match after a huge performance. His relentless pressing, energy and work rate caused problems for Roade throughout the game, while his high-intensity running and determination helped create opportunities and contributed to two of Sabres’ goals.

Sabres coaches Kristian and Gary said:

“I’m really pleased with the attitude the players have shown since stepping up a league. After the high of winning the cup last season, we knew we couldn’t stand still, so we worked really hard during pre-season to make sure we were ready for the challenge.

“The effort and commitment from every player has been outstanding, and that is reflected in all of this season’s performances. To go three from three, especially against teams that gave us a lesson last year, is amazing.

“It’s a great start, and there is plenty of the season still to go. I’m looking forward to seeing this team continue to grow.”

Sabres now look ahead to their next league fixture away against Brixworth.

The boys continued to work tirelessly all over the pitch, with every player putting in a fantastic shift. Ozzy N led the way with two well-taken goals, while Louie H also got on the scoresheet.

The Buccaneers continued to battle after the break, creating chances and combining well through Misia and Maddie. Blisworth took their opportunity to regain the lead, but the Jets continued to fight until the final whistle.

With only eight players available, every member of the team gave everything. Their resilience, togetherness and communication were outstanding throughout the match.

Kingsthorpe Jets Cobras produced a fantastic performance away to AFC Rushden & Diamonds Kites, securing a well-earned league victory.

The Cobras started quickly, creating several chances and showing plenty of attacking intent. Despite missing some early opportunities, the team stayed patient, continued to battle and were eventually rewarded with the goals their performance deserved.

Kingsthorpe Jets Vipers began their NDYAL Under 13 League D campaign with a positive performance away to Earls Barton Blues, narrowly losing 3-2 at Pioneer Sports Ground.

Earls Barton took the lead on the counterattack, but the Vipers responded brilliantly. Their pressing immediately won possession back after kick-off, and following a saved effort, David followed up with a tap-in to level the scores before half-time.

The Vipers enjoyed the majority of possession and territory during the first half, creating several excellent opportunities. Their energy, pressing and determination were outstanding as they repeatedly won the ball back in dangerous areas.

Earls Barton came out strongly after the break and scored twice in quick succession, with one goal coming from a ball over the top and the other following a quick throw-in.

The Vipers refused to give up. A superb through ball from Kayden found Jacob, who finished brilliantly to make it 3-2 and set up a tense final period.

The boys continued to dominate possession and pushed hard for an equaliser. Chance after chance came and went, but they could not find the final goal their performance deserved.

Diamond was named Player of the Match for an excellent display in both attack and defence, repeatedly winning the ball back and allowing the Vipers to build attacks high up the pitch.

Although the result was disappointing, there was plenty to be proud of. The team showed fantastic passing, movement, effort and commitment, while Kayden and Bailey both made impressive league debuts.

Kingsthorpe Jets Swifts began the new season with a hard-fought draw against Grange Park at Kingsthorpe Rec.

Swifts dominated the opening stages, building confidently from the back and linking well with the midfield. Clever movement and excellent play from both wingers created four clear chances during the first 20 minutes, but Grange Park defended bravely to keep the game scoreless.

Against the run of play, Grange Park took the lead after their first attack, following up after an excellent save from the Swifts goalkeeper.

The second half saw Swifts throw everything forward, switching to a back two and creating wave after wave of pressure through shots, crosses and set pieces. Grange Park defended brilliantly, but Swifts continued to show patience, focus and belief.

Their persistence finally paid off in the final minute when Hamza produced a brilliant low strike from outside the box to find the bottom-left corner and rescue a deserved draw.

Kingsthorpe Jets Sabres produced an outstanding performance in the Northants County Cup Final on 23 May 2026, turning in a disciplined and clinical display away at Moulton Whites to seal a deserved 4-1 win.

The Sabres made the perfect start after just four minutes. Great work down the right from Nik created the opening, and Szymon did the rest with an excellent turn and finish to put Jets 1-0 ahead. The team continued to create chances throughout the first half, but the Moulton goalkeeper produced a string of impressive saves to keep the score down and send Sabres into the break with a narrow lead.

After half-time, the message was simple: keep doing the hard work and stay disciplined. The team responded exactly as asked. Moulton’s goalkeeper again made several strong saves, but Sabres kept pushing and were eventually rewarded when Nik claimed his second assist of the game, picking out Edward to score his first goal. That moment seemed to settle everyone, and soon after Taylor delivered an excellent corner for Edward to head home his second.

It was a performance built on effort, fitness and technical quality, with every single player playing their part. On such a big occasion, the squad showed exactly what they were capable of and fully deserved their moment at the final whistle.
