About Us JetsJetsJets

Our Story;

Kingsthorpe Jets started life back in 1992 as a small group of local volunteers wanting to give children in Northampton a safe, fun place to play football. Fast forward more than 30 years and we’re now one of the largest grassroots clubs in the county – with nearly 40 teams, over 500 players, and a buzzing community of coaches, parents and supporters.

In 2022 we celebrated our 30th anniversary with a huge party at Kingsthorpe Recreation Ground, complete with music, games and even a visit from the Premier League trophy!

What We Stand For At Jets, football is for everyone. We’re a volunteer-run, non-profit club committed to making the game accessible to children and adults of all abilities. Our values are simple: fun, friendship, teamwork and respect.
From toddlers just starting out in our “Micro Jets” sessions, to our men’s, ladies’ and thriving girls’ teams – we believe football should always be safe, welcoming and enjoyable.

Our Teams

We’re proud to run around 39 teams, ranging from Under-5s right up to adult sides. That includes: Mini & Youth Teams: Boys’ and mixed squads from U5 all the way through to U18. Girls’ & Ladies’ Football: A fast-growing section with more than a dozen teams and over 150 players. Micro Jets & Wildcats: Special sessions for toddlers (age 2+) and FA-backed Wildcats football for girls aged 5–11. Whatever your age or experience, there’s a place for you at Jets.

Our Coaches

All of our coaches are FA qualified, DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding. We currently have more than 30 FA Level 1 coaches and several Level 2 coaches too – all volunteers giving up their time to develop players in a safe and positive environment.

Behind the Scenes The club is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers who look after everything from fixtures to finances. Roles include Chairman, Secretary, Development Officer, Treasurer and Welfare Officer, as well as many team managers and helpers who keep things ticking along every week.

Our Home

You’ll find us at Kingsthorpe Recreation Ground on Harborough Road, Northampton. It’s where all of our teams train and play. The Rec has plenty of pitches, plus a clubhouse with changing rooms, toilets, a café and a meeting room – it really is the heart of our club.

Community Spirit

Being part of the local community means everything to us. We’ve: Featured in charity music videos to support mental health causes. Hosted fun days and park parties open to everyone. Secured grants and sponsorships to keep football affordable for families. Partnered with local schools and groups to give more young people the chance to play.

Every penny we raise goes straight back into improving facilities, equipment and opportunities for our players.
