Kingsthorpe Jets Men’s side fell to a 3-1 league defeat away to Brixworth on Saturday, 26 September, in a challenging match with nine regular players unavailable.
The Jets started slowly and conceded an early goal in the opening 15 minutes. The team responded well, settling into the game, putting passes together and taking control of the centre of the park. Despite enjoying more possession, they couldn’t turn it into a goal before half-time and conceded again from a corner just before the break.
Jets came out strongly in the second half, but Brixworth scored on the counterattack to extend their lead. The team kept working until the end and won a penalty in the final 10 minutes, with Nath converting in the 80th minute to make it 3-1.
Jack Eady produced a top-corner save in the first half to keep the Jets in the contest. Jack Gill was named Player of the Match for his excellent work rate.
Coach Ben Whiting said he was pleased with the performance, particularly from players who have had limited playing time.
The team’s next fixture is against Kettering at Orchard Park on 3 October.
A special thank you to the Men’s Saturday team sponsor, NN Drainage, for their support.
