Kingsthorpe Jets Typhoons have completed a remarkable league and cup double after being crowned Under 13 League Champions and then following it up with a superb Plate Cup Final victory.
The title was secured in stunning fashion with an outstanding 10-3 away win over Bugbrooke. The girls made a flying start, racing into a 2-0 lead early on, with the second goal coming from the penalty spot after a clear push in the box. Bugbrooke responded with a penalty of their own, but Typhoons stayed calm, trusted their football and continued to play with real confidence.
Going forward, Typhoons were outstanding before half-time. Brilliant movement, sharp passing and composed finishing saw them add four more goals to take full control of the game by the break. They carried that momentum into the second half, scoring three quick goals to put the match beyond doubt.
Bugbrooke kept battling and deserved credit for the way they competed, but Typhoons continued to push right until the final whistle, rounding off a superb 10-3 win. The goals were shared across the team, with Fabiola and Sarah both scoring hat-tricks, Harvey adding two, and Rai and Lucie each getting on the scoresheet. Isla was named Player of the Match for a superb defensive display, covering brilliantly at the back and reading the game so well throughout.
That result confirmed Typhoons as Under 13 League Champions with three games still to play, a remarkable and fully deserved achievement built on togetherness, hard work, attitude and a real willingness to improve all season.
The girls then went one step further by producing another outstanding performance to win the Plate Cup Final and complete the double.
Typhoons got off to the perfect start when Sarah fired them ahead after just 30 seconds, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Rai doubled the lead after 12 minutes, before Sarah grabbed her second on 32 minutes with a brilliant free kick. Amelia added another just after half-time to make it 4-0, before Sarah completed her hat-trick on 55 minutes with another excellent finish. Lucie rounded off the scoring on 60 minutes to complete a fantastic 6-1 win.
Every single player played their part, and the girls fully deserved the result for the effort, teamwork and attitude they showed throughout the game.
Winning the league was incredible. Winning the Plate was incredible. Doing both, and completing the double, is something truly special, and every single player should be proud of what they achieved together. Scott and Nick are unbelievably proud of this group.
League champions. Plate winners. Double winners. ππππ
